SP10 vs SQ10. Key differences.

The SP10 and SQ10 are both 10 MHz PCBite handsfree probes for I2C, UART, CAN bus and similar low-frequency signals. They measure the same signals with the same spring-loaded needle and magnetic base. The difference is in the mechanical design: how the probe head is built, how stable it stands, whether it is insulated and how it connects to your instruments.

What they have in common.

– 10 MHz bandwidth for digital buses and low-frequency signals.
– Spring-loaded, exchangeable fine-pitch test needle.
– Flexible arm with a magnetic base that locks to any PCBite base plate.
– Up to 2 A continuous current, so both can power a board during bring-up.

Key differences.

SP10 vs SQ10 table: bare PCB head and dual pin header versus insulated body, single pin header, stability and handheld use.

Choose SP10 when.

– You want the most minimal probe design.
– You work in tight spaces where the ultra-thin probe head fits between components.
– You switch between instruments and want two cables on the same probe.
– You want to modify the probe, swap probe boards on the M4 thread or fit your own needles.

Choose SQ10 when.

– You need better stability and more room to tilt the probe.
– You want an insulated probe design.
– You work on powered boards and want the extra safety of the insulated body.
– You want to detach the probe and use it handheld.

Use both on the same setup.

SP10 and SQ10 share the same magnetic base and fit every PCBite base plate, so you can mix them in one setup. Both are also available as red and black pairs with banana leads for multimeters and bench power supplies.
