One Probing System. Endless Measurement Possibilities

Handsfree probes

HANDSFREE PROBING

Probes that stay where you put them.

PCBite turns traditional test equipment into a handsfree measurement system. Connect to your signal and let go, keeping both hands free to adjust the circuit, operate equipment or simply step away. From everyday measurements to high-frequency signals up to 6 GHz, PCBite probes are designed to stay exactly where you put them.

Compatibility

If you have the instrument, we have the probe.

Two SQG probes on an RF test board, connected to port 1 and port 2 of a vector network analyzer to measure the circuit in place.

Passive 10:1 probes with a standard BNC connector, from 100 MHz to 1.5 GHz. Most models include a probe identification pin, allowing compatible oscilloscopes to recognize the probe and automatically set the 10:1 attenuation.

Bandwidth Without Compromise

Your oscilloscope is only as good as the probe connected to it.

PCBite probes are engineered for low loading, flat frequency response and accurate signal reproduction. In many setups, replacing the supplied general-purpose probe with a carefully matched PCBite probe can improve the performance of the complete measurement system. We design the probe to reveal what your oscilloscope can really do, not to become its limitation.

HIGH-FREQUENCY PROBING

Handsfree RF probes up to
6 GHz.

The SQG series extends the PCBite handsfree system into RF and high-speed measurements up to 6 GHz. Designed for instruments with 50 Ω inputs, including oscilloscopes, network analyzers and spectrum analyzers, the passive AC and DC probes work with the same PCBite base plates and holders.

NEEDLES

Every needle, spring-loaded.

Both the test needle and ground needle are spring-loaded, providing a defined, consistent contact force on the pad. This keeps the connection stable throughout the measurement, even if the setup is bumped or exposed to vibration.

SPRING-LOADED GROUND

We reinvented the ground.

High-end probes often use a spring-loaded signal needle for reliable contact. The same principle is applied to ground with Sensepeek’s patented spring-loaded ground, positioned close to the signal point. The short ground path reduces loop inductance and improves signal integrity, while the spring-loaded ground adds the mechanical stability needed for reliable handsfree measurements.

CONTACT FORCE

Less force. More control.

With spring-loaded signal and ground needles, a PCBite probe needs only about 60 g (2.1 oz) to maintain reliable contact with the test point. That light contact force makes the probe easy to hold steady, even during long handheld measurements. Fixed-needle probes can require 5 to 8 times more force, which quickly becomes tiring and makes precise placement on small pads more difficult.

Frequency response

Why flatness matters beyond bandwidth.

Bandwidth alone doesn’t tell you how accurately a probe measures a signal. A probe can meet its bandwidth specification while amplitude changes significantly with frequency, which is why flat frequency response matters. The goal is to preserve signal amplitude across the usable frequency range.

MEASURED PERFORMANCE

Frequency response, measured and published.

Bandwidth is only one part of probe performance. Each PCBite oscilloscope and high-frequency probe model is characterized across its usable range, with measured frequency response data published on the product page. The example shown here is an SQG60-AC. Each SQG probe is individually serialized, with probe-specific S-parameter data available in Probe Cloud.

CABLE HOLDERS

Know every channel at a glance.

Every SQ10 and PCBite oscilloscope probe includes cable holders in four standard channel colors used by leading test equipment manufacturers. They keep cables organized and make each channel easy to trace from instrument to measurement point. Eight colors are available for larger or more complex setups.

SAFETY

Measure with confidence.

Our standard PCBite oscilloscope probes are designed and independently tested against IEC 61010-031 and rated CAT II 300 V RMS. Performance matters. So does using a probe designed for the measurement environment.

Ultra-thin profile

SP10 probes, built for fine pitch.

The SP10 probe head is a bare, ultra-thin PCB with no plastic body around the contact point. Several probes fit side by side on fine-pitch components, for measurements on I²C, I³C, UART, CAN bus and other signals from DC to 10 MHz. The 2.54 mm (0.100 in) dual pin header accepts two cables at the same time, for simultaneous power and measurement.

SQ10 probes, insulated design.

The SQ10 is a 10 MHz handsfree probe for I2C, I3C, UART, CAN-bus and similar signals, with an insulated body that makes powered work safer. Detach it from the arm for handheld use, then mount it back to work handsfree.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

SP10 or SQ10: which should I choose?

Both are 10 MHz probes with the same spring-loaded needle and magnetic base, for I2C, UART, CAN bus and similar signals.

  • Choose the SP10 for the slimmest probe head in tight spaces, or to connect two cables to one probe.
  • Choose the SQ10 for more stability, an insulated body for powered boards, and handheld use.

See SP10 vs SQ10.
