Introduction

Spare dual ground spring needles for the PCBite SQG15 and SQG30. A short, symmetrical ground on both sides of the signal needle for measurements at the full rated bandwidth.

Two dual ground spring needles for the PCBite SQG15 and SQG30 probes, in both AC and DC versions. The ground part is 3.5 mm (0.14 in) in diameter and places two spring-loaded ground needles on either side of the signal needle, 2.3 mm (0.09 in) from the signal and 4.6 mm (0.18 in) apart.

The short, symmetrical ground return keeps the full rated bandwidth, 1.5 GHz on the SQG15 and 3 GHz on the SQG30. The single ground spring limits the SQG30 to 2 GHz, so the dual spring-loaded ground needles are the choice for measurements above that.

The spring-loaded needles give a consistent, low impedance ground contact without clips or soldering, whether the probe is used handsfree or handheld.

NEEDLE PITCH

Fixed spacing. Repeatable contact.

Know exactly where the needles land. The dual ground uses fixed geometry, so the signal and ground needles always land at known distances. The SQG15 and SQG30 use 2.3 mm (0.09 in) from signal to ground and 4.6 mm (0.18 in) between the ground needles. The drawings show the exact needle geometry, whether you use existing pads, exposed copper or dedicated test points.

PATENTED GROUND DESIGN

Dual spring-loaded grounding.

High-end probes use a spring-loaded signal needle. The same principle is applied to ground through patented dual spring-loaded ground needles, improving contact stability and keeping the ground path short. On the SQG15 and SQG30, the dual ground keeps the full 1.5 GHz and 3 GHz bandwidth.
