Introduction

The largest PCBite kit with an insulated base plate, holders and two handsfree SQ200 oscilloscope probes. The base plate gives you room for large PCBs, several connected boards or a complete handsfree probing setup. Position each probe on the signal, let go and keep both hands free to make measurements and adjust the oscilloscope.

Place the spring-loaded test needle on the signal, set the spring-loaded ground needle next to it and release. The flexible arm holds the probe in position, while the N52 neodymium magnet in the base keeps it locked to the base plate. The 200 MHz passive 10:1 probe stays in place for quick measurements and long triggering sessions, with a probe ID pin that lets compatible oscilloscopes automatically select the correct 10:1 scaling. No soldered wires and no fixtures.

The probe is insulated and can be used handheld like a traditional probe. A low center of gravity keeps it stable when used handsfree, and color coded cable holders in four standard channel colors make each channel easy to trace.

Two ground options are included, the ground spring needle for handsfree measurements and the ground spring for handheld use, both at the full rated bandwidth. A test hook, an alligator clip and ground leads with 2.54 mm (0.100 in) jumper connectors, often called Dupont connectors, cover the connections where no ground pad is close by.

Every PCBite holder uses the same magnetic base, knurled grip and pressure spring, with a standard working height of 50 mm (1.97 in). Each holder includes insulation washers for holding powered PCBs.

BANDWIDTH WITHOUT COMPROMISE

Your oscilloscope is only as good as the probe connected to it.

PCBite probes are engineered for low loading, flat frequency response and accurate signal reproduction. In many setups, replacing the supplied general-purpose probe with a carefully matched PCBite probe can improve the performance of the complete measurement system. We design the probe to reveal what your oscilloscope can really do, not to become its limitation.

Switching and PWM Open Close

Long ground leads are useful for locating the signal and making initial contact, but their added inductance can introduce ringing on fast switching edges. For accurate measurements, replace the long ground lead with the short spring-loaded ground to minimize the ground loop. This provides a cleaner view of edge shape, overshoot and dead time while keeping the probe in place handsfree. Leave the probe connected while adjusting the control loop or changing the duty cycle.

Power rails and ripple Open Close

Ripple and noise measurements are highly sensitive to ground path inductance. Each millimeter of ground lead adds approximately 1 nH, increasing susceptibility to switching noise and measurement-induced ringing. Use the ground spring for the shortest possible connection to a test point, or the optional MMCX adapter for a coaxial connection to an onboard MMCX connector.

Clocks and digital edges Open Close

For sine-wave measurements, a system bandwidth of approximately three times the signal frequency is often sufficient. Digital signals require more bandwidth to preserve edge shape, with five times the clock frequency commonly used as a practical guideline. Signals with very fast rise and fall times may require higher bandwidth still.

MULTI-POINT MEASUREMENT

Multiple probes. Long measurements. No hands required.

Position several probes across the board and leave them in place for both quick measurements and long triggering sessions. The probes maintain contact throughout the measurement, enabling simultaneous multi-point measurements that are impractical with handheld probes.

SPRING-LOADED GROUND

We reinvented the ground.

High-end probes often use a spring-loaded signal needle for reliable contact. The same principle is applied to ground with Sensepeek’s patented spring-loaded ground, positioned close to the signal point. The short ground path reduces loop inductance and improves signal integrity, while the spring-loaded ground adds the mechanical stability needed for reliable handsfree measurements.

SOLDERING

Built for soldering.

Place a component, solder it, adjust and move on to the next one. The board stays where you put it, at a comfortable working height, from the first component to the last.

Microscope work

Move the board, not the focus.

The PCB is held level at the same working height, so it stays sharp under the microscope. Slide the whole base plate sideways, forward or back to bring the next area into view, without touching the board or refocusing. Inspect, solder and rework in one continuous session.
